Sally's focus then changed to an enduring love of portrait painting. She is committed to pursuing her passion of portraying through the art of oil painting.

Sally describes two events that deeply influenced her love of portraiture.

Firstly, in my childhood, a close family friend owned a painting of 'Jimmy Cook' by William Dobell. As an Archibald Prize finalist in 1942, the year before Dobell 's win with Joshua Smith, the portrait of Jimmy Cook became an inspirational imprint on my memory.

Secondly, while practicing as a dentist, I was blessed to have as a long term patient, artist, Nora Heysen. Nora was a close friend of Dobell 's and the first woman to win the Archibald Prize. I had many inspirational discussions with Nora and was privileged to witness her numerous 'still life' stations set up throughout her home in Woolwich, all with paintings at different stages of development.
